ABOUT THE BAND
AT THE GATES
At The Gates is a Swedish Death Metal band that was formed in 1990. Their 4th album “Slaughter of the Soul” was nominated for a Swedish Grammy and is considered a landmark in the genre of Melodic Death Metal. During a brief hiatus, 3 members went on to form the band The Haunted.
In 2018 Revolver Magazine wrote an article on how At The Gates changed metal forever with “Slaughter of the Soul” and attributes the existence of bands like; In Flames, Soilwork, Arch Enemy, As I Lay Dying, Killswitch Engage, All That Remains and the Black Dahlia Murder all to At The Gates. In reality, A LOT of metal bands owe At The Gates their career for helping reinvent the Death Metal genre.
Long Story Short – These guys are legends and held in the same regard as Slayer, Metallica, and Anthrax for what they did for Metal.
